As the Managing Director and Head of Quantitative Engineering (QE) and AI (DCT) at BMO Capital Markets, Armando Benitez is a leader in the field of technical strategy, technology management, and fostering a culture of innovation. He has a strong technical background and excellent communication skills, making him an effective leader and motivator of his team. In his role, he leads a group of engineers and AI experts who deliver practical, revenue-generating solutions at scale and advises different business lines on how to effectively implement these solutions.
Armando is well-versed in the latest trends and technologies in his field, and has a proven track record of translating this knowledge into practical solutions that drive business growth. He has also demonstrated a dedication to the Toronto data and machine learning community, serving as an instructor for machine learning at the School of Continuing Education at the University of Toronto and organizing and speaking at the Deep Learning Toronto Meetup. Prior to joining BMO, Armando developed data products for fraud detection and recommender systems at Paytm and obtained his Ph.D. in High Energy Physics, gaining experience with data-intensive analysis at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and Fermilab.
