Juan David Martínez Gordillo

I am an economist from Universidad del Rosario and I have 10+ years of experience in the public, multilateral, private, and academic sectors. I was the Coordinator of Big Data Projects in the National Planning Department and worked as a Consultant for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Recently, I have worked as a Senior Data Scientist directing data science projects in technology companies in the United States and Colombia in the Computer Software, Fintech, and Edtech industries. Currently, I work as a Staff AI Solutions Architect for Google, and adjunct professor at Universidad de los Andes.

I have led projects and teams involving artificial intelligence, data science, analytics, data mining, data strategy, growth hacking, A/B testing experimentation, automated extraction of web information (web scraping), machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP). I have advanced knowledge of Python, R, Matlab, and Julia. Similarly, I have extensive experience in the use of SQL and NoSQL databases for querying and writing information, as well as Spark (Databricks), Hadoop, and Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for processing large databases (Big Data). Additionally, I have exceptional data storytelling and public presentation skills, thanks to my experience as adjunct professor at the Universidad del Rosario and Universidad de los Andes, and my participation as a guest speaker at multiple events.

I am a Fulbright scholar and Colfuturo grantee, and I hold a master’s degree in data science from Duke University, one of the top 10 universities in the United States and top 30 in the world.
