Federico Castanedo is an Academic Director and Professor at IE University, where he oversees the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence bachelor’s degree and teaches courses on AI, Data Science, and Machine Learning.
He has over 15 years of experience in data science and AI, spanning academia, industry, and start-ups.
He holds a PhD in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and has conducted research at Stanford University as a visiting researcher.
Federico has a proven track record of delivering data science and AI solutions with business impact and leading high-performing data science teams. He has held leadership positions at DataRobot and Vodafone, where he hired, led, and coached teams of specialized data scientists. He also co-founded WiseAthena, a leader in AI price optimization for CPG companies, and served as the Chief Data Scientist.
He is also a published author, with multiple O’Reilly e-books on data science topics and research papers that have received over 1500 citations.
Federico is passionate about building software systems and algorithms that learn from data and help companies use them to achieve business value.
