Mattie Griffin

Over the past 9 years at Chester Zoo I have developed the entire suite of user applications that manage the majority of the business front end systems.

This has included a fully integrated memberships, adoptions, bookings and ticketing solution with a generic look and feel designed to be familiar and easy to use to the user.

All reporting has been developed with MS Reporting Services (SSRS). Larger reports run from the data warehouse which enables very speedy and effective reporting for users. This datawarehouse takes a variety of information from internal and external systems including all sales from our 3 EPOS till systems and consolidate the data into one structured source of information.

My experience over the past 21 years has primarily been in developing relational databases.

My development skills have mainly been based around Microsoft Access Projects (ADP files) as a front end to an SQL 2000/2008 Microsoft SQL back end. The development of the front end user forms has been in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). This is a rapid development environment and due to many years of this style of development I am very profficient in producing full projects within very small timescales.

The software I have developed has been held in high regard by both Zoo users and as a result has led to interest in the software from other Zoos, museums and visitor attractions.

Specialties: Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2008 R2
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services
Microsoft Access Projects (ADP)
Visual Basic for Applications

My primary speciality is consolidating seperate data systems (SQL, access, excel, oracle, txt files), analysing this data and producing data warehouses for SQL reporting services. This provides extremely fast reporting and business intelligence for users to determine the most effective business decisions to be made.
