I work as a contractor/consultant working in Genomics and Bioinformatics, currently working with UKHSA.
For many years, I managed two interrelated core facilities within the Department of Biology’s Bioscience Technology Facility. I have run the Bioinformatics service since 2005 providing support to a wide range of research groups in the Department. I now also run the Genomics lab, providing access to the technologies that are used to generate the data that the Bioinformatics group analyse.
On the Bioinformatics side, I also run a range of Python Courses covering everything from the basics for those who have never written any programs before, through to customised courses in Data Analysis using a range of open-source and Python tools. We run these courses here in York in dedicated computer classrooms, but we are also happy to run the course on site for anyone who has up to twelve delegates who want the same course.
